Why I'm a Dog Walker
I've been trying to leash a new client's dog for almost a week without any luck. He is afraid and runs away before I can reach his collar. The frustration of it is hard to keep down and I know I have to maintain a calm and soothing attitude for him - dogs can tell if you're nervous or upset. Yesterday was different though. Yesterday he sat next to me on the floor and I slowly, very slowly, reached over and started petting him on the head and neck. I could see the fear in his eyes disappear as he moved his head over and placed it on my leg. His name is Dallas and I couldn't help but hear the old line... "Dallas, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."
